Why This Course Is Needed — And What You Can Expect
Racialized and non-white communities—often referred to as the Global Majority—have long faced harm and systemic neglect within healthcare systems. These realities have contributed to poorer health outcomes, lack of trust in care providers, and disengagement from essential health initiatives, such as childhood immunizations post-COVID.
In pediatric care, this work is especially critical. Children from marginalized communities often experience the compounded effects of racism and poverty, while families struggle to access safe, consistent, and respectful care. This course is designed to help you address those challenges head-on.

You will learn how to:
- Recognize and respond to the effects of systemic racism
- Rebuild trust with families who have been harmed by healthcare institutions
- Support your patients through complex health and social issues
- Use communication techniques that foster connection and understanding
- Collaborate with other providers to create wraparound support for your patients
